How are y guys getting ๐Ÿ’ ?
For a 12h layover in Buenos Aires, does it make sense to bring dollars and change them in a cueva? Or would I get an OK rate with my foreign credit card? Havent been there for 10y, so dunno how to find these places to change USD
replay 3mo
For a stay of 12h going to a cueva seems like a lot of effort. I've been to Buenos Aires one month ago and Revolut usually gave me a pretty good rate
replay 3mo
Revolut gave me $1116 pesos per USD
Itโ€™s pretty much the same rate now comparing the black market with the bank rate
What district? Do you train in any gym there?
Usually gym is the first thing I need to find in new country

A more chill area in BA is Villa Urquiza, not too far from Belgrano and Palermo. It used to be cheaper but itโ€™s still in my opinion a good alternative. The area around Plaza Zapiola is super nice with many restaurant/cafe options (and a few gyms).

Not very well known by people outside of Argentina but itโ€™s one of the up and coming areas for locals.

(Disclosure: Iโ€™m from Argentina and used to live there)
Hey guys omw to BS for a month any recommendations ? or anyone that wants to meet and hangout ?

Microcentro & Barrio Norte, not in Palermo.

Just landed in Buenos Aires from the UK, working in high ticket sales. Is anyone around for a meetup/chat?

Black market dollar is over, thing of the past.
sescotti 3mo
Yeah, just use your monzo/revolut/wise and youโ€™ll be fine.

Hey people, been in BsAs during 2020 last time, heard the prices in usd up a lot now - how bad is it exactly? What would be est monthly expenses for 2 excluding rent? Mostly eating out, lots of beers + some events on weekends ?:D
Hey Ilya! indeed, prices have been going up :(. Lunch for two ranges from 35-100usd, and a beer is around 5-7usd. event tickets go from 20usd up to ~100usd, depending on what you like! The biggest cost comes from eating out, if you enjoy cooking, it will save you lots of money. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Can second that. Came here last year, and the prices have gone through the roof. Definitely eating at home and staying away from the restaurants

Also, before coming, I recommend buying stuff from outside. For example, I bought a Freestyle 2 projector for $481, and here the same one is $928

Hi all, I am in BsAs for the next 3 weeks, happy to meet for a drink and just explore the city. It is my 6th time here, so I am quite a local already ๐Ÿ™‚
I'm here now and was here in 2020 (during the whole pandemic), June 2023 and June 2024. It's certainly gotten more expensive. I go get coffees almost daily and a latte is usually just under $4 USD at a 1200 pesos per dollar rate. Basically double what it was in 2020 and 2023. A pulled pork sandwich at Bulls BBQ is $18, the Gran Bife for 2 dinner at Las Petunias or Doรฑa is about $30 USD. There are some smaller places that still do a cash discount of 10%. The coffee shop Portus does a 20% cash discount. Riding the subte is about $1.30 now, and a bus depending on how far you go is $.50. It's nice that you can now pay for these with a credit card, by tapping it instead of a SUBE card when you enter, however I did find one bus yesterday that didn't take Visa/MC, so it's good to have a SUBE card with some value on it.
Overall, it's more expensive, but there's still something I love about Buenos Aires, especially this time of year when it's not hot and humid.

Hey folks ๐Ÿ‘‹
Iโ€™m putting together a small casual meetup for remote workers and nomads around Buenos Aires in August.
Itโ€™s a relaxed 1-hour group chat to swap experiences about city life and meet likeminded people.
If youโ€™re in, join the small coordination chat here: https://t.me/+B_cLaMl1IL81Nzhk
Looking forward to connecting! โ€” Jorge ๐ŸŒŽ

Hi, thanks for joining! ๐Ÿ‘‹
Once we have 3โ€“4 more people, weโ€™ll be ready to hold the meetup.
Weโ€™ll have access to the WeWork space in Buenos Aires โ€” Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll like it! After the session, youโ€™re welcome to stay to work or just relax for a while and enjoy its amazing river views.

4 dollars for a latte is more than what I pay in Florida
jeniapus 2mo
so expensive now buenos
jeniapus 2mo
fuck me
rcsligar 2mo
Yea those prices are repulsive
rcsligar 2mo
If Iโ€™m gonna travel all that way Iโ€™m not paying more for a coffee than I do in my home country

Have anyone been in Tigre, Buenos Aires? How's there?
I was there, nice day trip
jsekera 1mo
Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹
Next week Iโ€™ll be at WeWork Corrientes on Thursday 28 and Friday 29, from 10:00 to 14:00.

Iโ€™d love to invite you to drop by for a chat โ€” and, if you feel like it, to spend some time working there and getting to know the space.

We can either set up a group conversation at a specific time, or just have more informal one-to-one chats. Please send me a message on Telegram and weโ€™ll coordinate the best moment.

Looking forward to seeing you and talking about Buenos Aires!
