Hey! Regarding to accommodation in Ho Chi Minh and on Vietnam in general. Is there any real difference in price between pre-booking the stay for 1-2 weeks or just get a couple of 2 days and negotiate on the spot? The later worked for me on Thailand. Is the same for Vietnam?

Negotitation usually works the same but if your place is popular it's possible it will be fully booked after your first 2 days

Serviced apartments are typically much cheaper than AirBnB.
In Vietnam there is often construction nearby or internet has issues so I‘d consider that if booking in advance without seeing it

There are a lot of scams as well
When booking a place ask to confirm that you can access the gym and swimming pool freely
(Booked 2 places and they were not what they presented on the website)

Really will depend on your age, etc., and where you want coverage. Can range $150-$400/ month. If you get plan that excludes the US, costs can go down a lot.

Any recommendations for accommodation options in Da Nang? I only found one coliving place and they are fully booked until November! Would the best approach be get a hotel for a few days and look around? I have read that its best not to book airbnbs for longer term w/o checking them out in person first given mold issues are common etc.?

Guys, who are in Da Nang, Hoi An and haven't been to the one of the world's largest caves Phong Nha, we are gathering a group to go on tonight Friday 29 aug for two days.

The trip, accommodation, entrance to the caves, welcome dinner and other activities are all included. The price is for our own and very cheap - only 3.5 mln dong.

In a month the season will end and everything will be flooded until February. So this is literally the last chance to visit the caves this year.

My friend just posted: For anyone looking for health insurance in Vietnam, do not, and I repeat, do not ever consider luma. They will do anything to get out of paying. This was after I was approved with 'no pre-existing conditions' They have spent the last 2 months trying to find something in my medical records to not pay out. Pathetic. Allianz was quite expensive, which is why I changed while I was unemployed, big mistake. Allianz' service and payouts are unmatched.

If you run speeedtests for servers outside Vietnam , try Hong Kong Singapore Tokyo London New York and San Francisco. That will give you the real performance as non Vietnamese traffic is throttled generally speaking

You can add your credit card to Grab, change a small amount at the airport or use the ATM there. I got skimmed at the airport in Bali years ago so watch out.
