Ace and Coworking Da Nang are the best. Cafe wise I love Tan, Nam House, Hideout, Lighthouse, and Six on Six
slaster 12d
Think you got the right idea. Ha Long is pretty great, try to go if you can. Da Nang is a lot better when thereโ€™s sunshine, so time of year is critical. Only positive of Ha Noi is the street food and the nightclubs are better.
slaster 12d
Yep do exactly that. I knew a few guys who tee up 2-3 visas back to back, leave on one, and come back on the other
robinkunz 12d
when would you say is best time? jan - jun? so no rainy season i guess
slaster 12d
Area 1 is locals, area 2 is expats. Area 2 is a lot more central and convenient. I go to area 1 a lot but thereโ€™s few western food options, no coworking spaces
slaster 12d
Maybe even Feb, Iโ€™m not actually sure when it ends, was still very wet last week
From what I researched any time from Feb - Jul seems best. Iโ€™ll be there from February 3rd.

Da Lat is a nice getaway from Ho Chi Minh because it's much cooler. Da Nang is a city at the beach (much less traffic & pollution than Ho Chi Minh) and I find it much nicer (also the people) than Nha trang.

Hello, do you know where I can find second-hand MacBook Pro/Max M1 to M3 models at good prices in Thailand or Vietnam? ๐Ÿ’ป

The resale prices of MacBook M1 to M3 have dropped significantly since the release of the M4 (for example on ebay), due to its significantly higher performance. However, when I visit specialized resale stores in Vietnam, they seem to have kept the same prices as before.
robinkunz 10d
is there a cozy cafe in da nang?

comfy chairs, nice ambiente, good to work.
robinkunz 10d
yes, researched it.

feb-merch perfect

apr - mai getting hotter

above jun not recommended
Check out DanaSol. Tommy the owner is super cool, be sure to say hi to him, and if you go there tell him Hunter sent you! lol

The Passport photo - does it have to be scanned or can I just take a clear photo of it?
Photo works
Anybody know if i can extend my Visa for 30 days in Muine? Only get offers to go to Cambodia :D
omtare 7d
Is it possible/easy to find quiet place to stay in Da Nang?
omtare 7d
Sounds like a challenge from what I've read so far
andrej 7d
The further away north or south from My An area the quieter. But also less cafes, gyms etc
edgaras 7d
Depends how sensitive you are
edgaras 7d
Itโ€™s not bad
omtare 7d
Seen people saying vietnamese neighbours will be blasting karaoke at all hours
oskars 7d
Bun Bao will find you wherever you rent
Roots has a lot of people working and it's in a convenient neighborhood, chairs are comfy but I would't call it cozy since it's not tiny.
Hello is there anybody in muine who can help with extending visa?
yeah they won't lower the prices because they don't want to sell for less profit, and a lot of consumers aren't aware of the new releases. I sold my lightly used M1 Pro 16 for 26 million ($1k) in Saigon a couple weeks ago, resale value is a lot higher in Vietnam because people will buy & sell used electronics, plus every electronic is a little more expensive due to import taxes, so that raises the floor value
if you're on a tourist evisa no one does that, you should fly to Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok and then come back on a new evisa. If you need it cheap, you could also go to Saigon and then take a bus to the cambodia land border to come back with a new evisa. If you apply for the evisa while still in Vietnam your application will probably be rejected (recently some people are claiming to have success)
Oh I.hope not to go.to.Cambodia as I also need the Cambodia visa๐Ÿค”
andrej 6d
There is no such thing as evisa extension
hm what is the best way except of cambodia?

That makes sense. Do you know any tips/places for buying a second-hand MacBook Pro/Max or a new M4 Pro 16-inch at the best price? Mainly in vietnam but also Thailand if you know something interesting
leliel 6d
and also, where did you sell your M1 pro 16? I'll ask them how much they'll take for my M1 Air 8gb.
In Bangkok you can get a new one in the apple store and have tax refund in the airport
leliel 6d
How does it work? I'm French but I've been living in asia for more than 15 months. If I ask a tax refund when I leave Bangkok and going to another country in Asia, will I get an even bigger tax from France in exchange?
You stay in Bangkok as a tourist for one-two months, when you leave you get cash in the airport. But you need to ask the shop for a tax free form that they fill in. Not all shops give tax free and there is minimum amount, so it makes sense only for highly-priced purchases or if you spend lots of money in the same mall within one day.
leliel 6d
thanks for the details, it's interesting to kow that
Ok i just saw as german i can stay 45 days without visa. I still have to leave vietnam. But can i come back without entering cambodia? Sometimes you can just go out and come back without entering the other country
I did a visa run from Saigon to Cambodia by bus in 2023. Even if you're just walking in and out, Cambodia still required a visa. Best is to ask a visa agent. if you have Zalo, send me a private message and I'll send you the contact
ok thank you. I do not have zalo
oskars 5d
Consider Laos too, can be visa-free or cheaper, closer to Central Vietnam.
iam in muine so laos is kinda far. What do you mean visa free?
oskars 5d
Meant some passport holders don't need a visa for Laos, e.g. Russians.
yeah i heard that but i can not find it for germany, if so laos would be better yes
I sold mine at 2tech house in bรฌnh thแบกnh, I canโ€™t recommend any places to buy though as I havenโ€™t bought used electronics before
you can also order from apple.com/vn to get it direct from apple

Hey, anyone in Danang? How is the weather and community at this time of a year?
Guys does anyone have a recommended Airbnb list for Da Nang?
ante cafe is decent, but in general i am quite disappointed with the cafe scene here.

guess its bc weather is bad in dn and most cafes are too cold then.

found way better cafes in saigon. not to speak in europe.
omtare 5d
are Vietnamese hotel/airbnb owners bad for fake reviews? Nearly every place in Hoi An seems to be 9.0+
khizrs 5d
You could also go to Hong Kong to buy a MacBook. Might be cheaper as zero tax
So i decided to go to.Cambodia and stay 1 week there. My plan was to.leave on.26 Jan. But now people tell me, that I have to leave before 20 cause of lunar new year nobody is working๐Ÿ˜ณ. But I will apply online once I left the country. How long will it take to get the visa? Over lunar new year?
mark_w 5d
We just planned our trip. Should be in DN in Feb (arriving on Jan 31). Over Feb + March we'll go DN -> Nha Trang -> HCMC
eVisa
oskars 5d
Apply in advance, no one cares if you were in Vietnam during application, check the chat.

Personally, I think applying on 20th is too late, it takes 3โ€“5 working days and you probably (dates of Lunar New Year are being decided) won't have 5 working days between 20th and 26th.
so you mean even right now when iam in vietnam i should apply for the next 3 month visa?
oskars 5d
What's this number?

If you sent a recent (less than 6 months) photo of yourself, that's good enough.
oskars 5d
Yes.
When you upload the portrait photo and passport photo and they are different you get a percentage match
eVisa
did you tried it? i heard both stories. Some had succes some not
oskars 5d
Woo, a new thing! I applied about 3 months ago, didn't notice this percentage.
Were your passport photo and portrait photo the same?
oskars 5d
I didn't, I risked, applied 5 days before departing and failed. Entered country at 9 am by 45 day "visa exemption", received my evisa at a midday, had to spend money on the visa run a month later.

I never heard weird stories of people applying being in the country, and I know people living in Vietnam for almost a year on these 3-month-evisas. Next time I need it, I'll do the same (don't show this message to officers)
oskars 5d
No, my passport photo was taken two years before evisa photo.
Iโ€™m in the same boat
magusch 4d
No, youโ€™re not right. If you apply to evisa in Vietnam you will receive a refusal with a reason that you shouldnโ€™t be in Vietnam.

I know person that can make fast evisa for 2-3 hours but it will work only on weekdays and cost around $90 (and itโ€™s not legal) and yoy shouldnโ€™t be in Vietnam in those 2-3 hours.
oskars 4d
tfalndgdjmlvy read this^, I was very wrong!
I decided now to leave Vietnam and come back on free visa 45 days straight
Hi all, can someone name me a good mobile internet data provider? 50 to 100 GB

Seems to very expensive in vietnam.

thanks Sascha
cheap af here,
using vinaphone 6gb/day package and paying 160k /month
I pay 260k for 3 gb total ๐Ÿคฃ I will check vinaphone thanks
mobifone PT plans also have Xgb/day, starts from 70k/month for 1gb/day, prices should be more or less similar to vinaphone
sure, best to go to their head office/main, and get proper package there.

convinced every telco here charges approximately the same
eric124 3d
Is it possible to just get it as an esim via app ?

To lazy to go to a store
eric124 3d
How common is pickpocketing in da nang ?
ฤร  Nแบตng very safe.
So not common at all.
viettel has the best network. you can get a cheap sim at a store
khizrs 2d
Yep Viettel at ah official Viettel shop
Hi, what do you think of this travel plan in terms of weather, pollution, and other factors: Ho Chi Minh City (last week in March) โ†’ Hanoi (first week in April) โ†’ Da Nang (stay for a month after Hanoi)?
I'm looking for a "home base" in vietnam for 1 month - will travel around from there. Seems like da nang is preferred over hoi an? Any favourite boutique hotels in da nang that anyone would recommend? Also has anyone checked out Quy Nhon - I assume too quiet for a full month but worth a visit? Thanks for your tips ahead of time!

Hey guys, do you tip and if yes where and are there general rules?
I never tip ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
karelb 15h
I tipped at the beginning and my Vietnamese friends told me not to tip at all that itโ€™s rude. When I tip, I tip a small amount.
/month
khizrs 8h
No donโ€™t tip itโ€™s not at all a thing in Vietnam or anywhere in east and SE Asia.
you never need to tip. it's appreciated for grab drivers who deliver in rainstorms
Thanks!
